Property in Turkey

An important decision in your search for your dream property is the time of year you approach agents in Turkey. There are benefits and drawbacks to visiting in different seasons and the combination of a house hunting trip with a holiday can greatly affect the outcome. If you choose your visit in the summer season then take care that you aren't stuck with an agent who has simply been employed for the Summer rush. Obviously, staff are often employed by reputable agents who have a sound local knowledge - make sure that this is the case. You should also be aware that agents are very busy during the peak holiday months so they can appear to be rushed. Before you know it, you can find yourself being escorted from one property to the next with very few opportunities to ask questions or take things in. This is when you need to be in control. You should tell the agent if you are uncomfortable with the speed of events. Conversely, bear in mind that reputable agents have to put up with a lot of time wasters during the peak season and while this does not excuse an overly fast pace, a good relationship with the agent works both ways. A major issue in summer is the 'silly season' mentality. This takes the form of over-inflated prices where some vendors (and agents) place unrealistic asking prices on properties in the hope of catching a holidaymaker unawares. The low season months are probably a better proposition. The 'hard-core' genuine agents will still be in the resorts and will have more time to dedicate to clients. re.
